Step One – Find the Source of Change
|
In order to create a
resolution, the first step is to take a moment
and look at the extreme opposite of what is
labeled conservative. If you
look closely into what is commonly called “The
Lunatic Fringe,”
you'll find the future of humanity
As historical
examples: Einstein was
thrown out of grade school as hopelessly
unteachable. Louis
Pasteur was drummed out of his medical college
for proposing that life forms too small the
human eye to see were the causes of disease.
Galileo was imprisoned for life for
publicly proclaiming that the Earth was round.
And then there’s the most famous
rebel of all time, Jesus of Nazareth.
Each of these people
made major contributions to the future of
humanity; yet, when they expressed their
mastery into the world, they were looked at as
troublemakers, as lunatics, or as fools.
The future of humanity
is still “out there” in that lunatic
fringe.
If you look among the malcontents, the
eccentrics, lunatics and the quasi-criminals,
you’ll also find the visionaries, the
dreamers, and the possibility thinkers.
You’ll
find the modern-day equivalents of Galileo,
Louis Pasteur, Robert Fulton, Joseph Smith,
Gandhi, Nicola Tesla, or possibly even another
world-renowned, spiritual leader.
Right now, today,
numerous individuals of this caliber are
diligently working on fantastic new ideas
while being ignored, condemned, or ridiculed
by our fellow humans. Those
who survive the assault of the status quo will
each change the face of this planet forever.
Major changes have
always come about this way -- from people who
live outside the mainstream of society, from
people who think differently, act differently,
and hold beliefs that are at odds with what is
considered normal. It
has always been that way. It’s
that way now, and there is no evidence it’s
about to change.
If all you can think
of is the way things are, or the way they used
to be, that’s what your future will be..

Step Two – Create a Context within which Resolution
is Possible
|
The second step in
creating a resolution to the abortion
controversy is to shift from a declaration of
its impossibility to the question,
“Is it possible to end this
conflict?” and then rather than
answering that question, to transform it into:
“How can we end this conflict?”
This shifts our thinking
process into a completely new context --
a context in which there is ample room to find
the solution with plenty of room leftover for
those who choose to believe it’s impossible. Instead of
fighting the impossibility thinkers, we simply
invite them to imagine and then tell us what
it would take to make a resolution possible.
We won’t bother to
tell them that the CAT-Scan was impossible;
electric lighting was impossible;
the steam engine was impossible;
a human running a mile in four minutes
was impossible; rockets to
the moon were impossible; to
free India from British rule was impossible;
and, course, we won’t tell them the
Earth is round because any fool can simply
step outside his or her front door and plainly
see that it really is flat.
So now that we have
declared our
goal:
To create an end to the abortion war
And have proposed our leading question:
How can we end this conflict?
Where do we go from
here?
Before
we go on to step three, let me remind you that
we are creating our resolution to this
conflict within the context of the three major
laws of the universe: “The Law of Allowing,”
“The Law of Thought,”
and “The Law of Intentional
Creation.”
These three laws are also discussed in
detail in sections 24, 80, and 84,
respectively. Their
combined application is discussed is section
87.

Step Three – Seek and Find the "Real" Truth
About Abortion
|
The next logical step
is to investigate the issue and seek the truth
about abortion, regardless of where that truth
leads us. To that
end, this author has written two 300+ page
books:
AN INTERVIEW WITH THE DEVIL®– Exposing
and Examining the Hidden and Previously
Ignored Aspects of the Abortion Controversy.
This book (a serious, but
light-hearted look at the abortion
controversy) offers a perspective on
abortion that few people have previously
examined.
ABORTION -- THE
SECRET RELIGIOUS WAR ®-- A
View of Abortion Without the Illusions, the
Unprovable Assumptions, or the Media Hype.
This book is, in
essence, the pro-truth web site edited and
transformed into a book format.
Most of the content of the book can also be
found on this web site and vice versa.
The books are offered
as a starting point in finding the truth about
abortion. Click

Step Four
– Undertake an Abortion
Impact Study
|
The next step to truly
understanding the abortion controversy is to
examine it in its full context to see how it
relates to the other aspects of human life.
As a society, we introduce new medicines only
after they are thoroughly tested to determine
what effect their use will have. (We
even have an entire federal bureaucracy, the
F. D. A., devoted to that task.)
We ask questions like
— What will be its positive effects?
What will be its negative side effects?
What will its effect be on innocent third
parties? Is there a better solution?
Is it worth doing? Is it in the
long-term best interest of all concerned?
When we undertake a major construction
project, like building a dam, we ask similar
questions and undertake an environmental
impact study prior to implementing the
project.
With regard to the
concept of permitting or prohibiting
intentional pregnancy termination
(inpreterm/abortion), a very vocal,
adamant, and determined minority (of no-choice
advocates) is attempting to make major changes
in our secular laws. These
restrictive laws would turn control of
reproductive biology from medical science to
religion and then force the practice of those
religious beliefs onto everyone by
governmental decree.
A very vocal, adamant,
and determined minority (of no-choice
advocates) is attempting to make major changes
in our secular laws. These
restrictive laws would turn control of
reproductive biology from medical science to
religion and then force the practice of those
religious beliefs onto everyone by
governmental decree.
Their proposed laws
are numerous, varied in scope restrictive in
intent, and, if passed and implemented, would
result in a momentous social transformation
and bring with them scores of irreversible,
social, economic, political, personal,
religious, and environmental changes.
The ramifications of
these proposed changes are global in their
scope and would impact human life on this
planet for centuries to come.
In light of the
enormous ramifications of these proposed
changes, an impact study is certainly in
order.
The
goal of the impact study is to determine what
the long-term personal, social, economic,
environmental consequences are (both
domestically and globally) if we do or do not
pass restrictive anti-abortion laws.
We need answers to questions such as:
|
What
would be gained and by whom?
What
would be lost and by whom?
How
much joy would these laws bring? —
how much misery?
What
would be the long-term social,
economic, political,
personal, religious, and
environmental costs and effects
of
outlawing abortion?
.
Are
these costs justified?
Are
we willing to accept the effects
that these irreversible
changes will have on our
personal and social, lives?
What
would be the cost of enforcing these
laws?
How
do we deal with the sizable portion
of the population
that has already openly declared
that they
will
not comply with such laws?
.
Are
we willing to pay the price in terms
of lost personal,
social, and political freedom?
Are
we willing to accept the resultant
social and
political chaos?
Are
we willing to accept the financial
costs?
Are
we willing to accept the
environmental costs?
In
the face of present human
overpopulation, are we
willing to promote the births
of still more babies?
|
The
excess human population is already
dramatically affecting our environment and
precipitating major (and soon to be
catastrophic) changes. Symbolically
speaking, we have turned our sacred Earth into
the Titanic and are now fighting over the deck
chairs. Are we
willing to continue ignoring these warning
signs and instead, fight over whose religion
is right? Is this
wisdom’s way?
Because
we are talking about irreversible changes
(such as the continuing destruction of the
rain forests) and because we can never know
the full effects of our changes, it is always
best to err on the side of safety by avoiding
irreversible changes.
With
regard to the human population, and the
destruction of our environment, there is one
thing we can be certain of. Our
interaction with our environment is not
sustainable in its present form.
We are on a one way road to disaster.
We can begin to deal with the over-population
problem today or wait for mother nature to do
it for us.
In
doing the research for this book, nothing
turned up that even remotely resembles a
comprehensive impact study. In
fact, those most vocal in proposing the
changes seem to be the ones least interested
in discussing the consequences and the
potential ramifications of the changes they
are proposing.
A
second aspect of the proposed impact study
would be to determine what costs we are
already paying for the laws already in effect
which directly or indirectly inhibit a
woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy.
What
is the cost of the present anti-abortion war
itself in terms of time, effort and money?

Step Five – Define and
Clarify the Issues
|
Three
major communication errors arise out of the
abortion controversy:
|
Applying universal answers
to personal questions.
Applying personal answers
(conjecture and personal
opinion) to unanswerable, universal
questions.
Applying single (one way
fits all) answers to broad-based
social questions.
|
In order to view the
abortion issue with clarity, we need to distinguish universal
answers from personal answers.
Universal answers are the same at all
times and in all places. By
contrast, personal answers are multiple,
divergent, often conflicting, and highly
emotional. They
change over time, differ in different
societies, and frequently are not the
slightest bit logical.
For example, if we ask
the question, “What is the cause of
unwanted pregnancy?” there is
one, clear,
straightforward, universal answer -- sexual
intercourse. In
contrast, if we ask the question, “How do we
deal with unwanted pregnancies in the context
of human sexual activity?” there is no
“one, single answer” that fits all
situations.
When one attempts to
respond to a broad-based, social question with
the same answer for everyone, it takes only a little looking to
see that it doesn’t fit any more than a
one-size shoe fits every foot.
There are just too many divergent
personal opinions -- too many points of view
-- too many possible answers -- too many
differences in individual needs, desires and
circumstances.
And equally as
unsatisfactory is the attempt to cover
unanswerable, universal questions with
personal answers. For
example: “What is the true spiritual nature of a human
being?” or “What is God?” or “What
does God want you to do?” Nobody
(including fundamentalist Christians) has
scientifically provable answers to this type
of question.
