Humanity is imperiled as never before by Climate Changes including Global Warming.    It is urgent that steps be taken immediately to avoid the unprecedented catastrophe toward which the world is rapidly heading.

 A message to Everyone:   Although A SACRED DUTY focuses on  a Jewish response to Global Climate Change, it speaks to people everywhere, regardless of their religious beliefs.   It's about the ethics of our relationship to our natural world.    It clearly show us why it's imperative that we (including you) respond quickly to help shift our imperiled planet from a disaster path to a sustainable partnership with Sacred Mother Earth.   It speaks to both the mind and the heart.   It speaks with such compelling footage that only those with the hardest of hearts can view some of its scenes without shedding a tear.

The Evidence:   Key climate scientists, including James Hansen of NASA, warn that without major changes, we will soon reach a tipping point (within about ten years) after which global warming will spiral out of control, with disastrous consequences.  

Israel:   Israel's is particularly vulnerable to global climate change.   It's vulnerable to reduced rainfall, to severe storms and to flooding from a rising Mediterranean Sea.  

Applying Judaism:    Although the film speaks to people everywhere, regardless of their religious beliefs,  A SACRED DUTY  focuses on  suggested Jewish responses to these problem issues.   It reminds us that it is the Jewish sacred duty to become aware of one's environment, to act responsibly toward that environment, and to apply the principles of Judaism to both the environment and to one's own life.    Jewish teachings offer instructions on how to obtain one's food, how to use natural resources in a sustainable manner, and how to live in harmony with the other creatures whom God created.   It offers simple, practical measures for reducing our impact on the planet.   

Plant-based Diets:   A recent report, the landmark "Livestock's Long Shadow,"  by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization gives us another dyer warning.   It exposes the disastrous consequences of modern, intensive animal-based agriculture.   The film explains why a shift toward plant-based diets is essential part of Reversing Global Warming.   The 2006 United Nations report indicated that 18% of greenhouse gases come from livestock agriculture.

No Exceptions:   This film also speaks loudly and powerfully to the Christian community which is also bound to care for the Earth by its own covenants with God.   We must realize that Global Warming disasters, if we allow them to continue, will kill all of us with unbiased equality.    We will all be equally as dead, regardless of our race, religion, gender, sexual preferences, age, or level of wealth.    

The bottom line:  A SACRED DUTY  is an excellent film, very well done.   Recommended to anyone and everyone, particularly to those who have even the slightest doubt about the seriousness of Global Warming.
